Dr. Jeff Smith
Originally from Stuart, Florida, Dr. Jeff Smith worked for his father’s construction and cattle companies. From a very early age, he had a special connection with all animals…dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, birds, and even reptiles. As a child, he would bring home sick animals that needed nursed back to health. Once out of high school, he felt God leading him to Mississippi to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. To pay for college, each summer, he fished commercially for salmon on an Alaskan fishing boat off the coast of Cordova, Alaska.
Dr. Jeff Smith graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and immediately began working at our clinic, then Eaves Animal Hospital. In June of 2010, Dr. Smith bought Eaves Animal Hospital from the Eaves family and renamed it Smith Animal Hospital. Dr. Smith strives for excellence in making Smith Animal Hospital a current and relevant veterinary hospital for all of his patients and their owners. He understands that all needs are different and seeks to meet each individual patient’s specific need.
Dr. Smith is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. His passion is serving people and their pets. Currently, Dr. Smith and his wife, Macki, live in Starkville with their daughters Mackinzie and Adelyn…and their many animals. They are active members of CrossPoint Baptist Church. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and building.
Dr. Amanda Stowers
Dr. Amanda Stowers is a 2015 graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. For the past three years, she has practiced veterinary medicine in Aiken, SC. Originally from Inverness, MS, Dr. Stowers wanted to be closer to home. She is happy to be back in Starkville and looking forward to being a part of the Smith Animal Hospital family . . . again! Many of our clients may remember her since she previously worked at our practice for three years before entering vet school. Outside of being a veterinarian, Dr. Stowers enjoys reading, painting, outdoor activities, being with family, eating good food, and spending time with her fiancé, Patrick. She also enjoys coming home to her pets: dogs, Gus and Bella Bassett, and cat, Paisley.
>Macki Smith has been the clinic administrator of Smith Animal Hospital since 2010. As 2004 graduate of Mississippi State University of College Education, she feels her experience in a field unrelated to veterinary medicine has given her a way to see her administrative duties from a different and purposeful perspective. Away from administrative work, she focuses on raising her two daughters with Dr. Smith, Mackinzie and Adelyn. She also enjoys teaching women’s Bible studies, reading, gardening, and organizing. She and her family also spend much time caring for their many animals of various species…feline, canine, bovine, and equine!
